PM calls for smooth running of winter session

New Delhi, Dec 3 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday appealed to all the political parties to allow parliament to run smoothly during the winter session starting Dec 5.

"As it is a short session of parliament, it should be everybody's effort to make best and optimal use of the time available to the two houses," Manmohan Singh told reporters here.

Seeking cooperation of all parliament members, the prime minister said: "On behalf of the government, we will do everything in our power to ensure that both houses run smoothly."

The winter session will run Dec 5-20.
