Speaking to reporters, Sibal said: "I didn't expect RSS and BJP to stoop to this level... The person who says I'm shielding Tejpal should have the courage to name me."
"I have been attacking Modi (Narendra Modi) so the BJP is targeting me and my family," Sibal said.
He said he does not have any stake in Tehelka.
"I have no share in Tehelka," Sibal said.
Triggering a war of words, Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday said a Cabinet minister is shielding Tehelka Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal
"Union Cabinet Minister who is the founder and patron of Tehlaka is shielding Tarun Tejpal," Swaraj tweeted without naming anyone.
The Goa Police on Wednesday summoned Tejpal for quizzing on Thursday in the sexual assault case of a young journalist even as the disgraced media personality faced another blow after the Delhi High Court refused any interim relief to him that would prevent his arrest.
"The investigating officer is summoning the accused in the case tomorrow around 3 pm," said Goa Police DIG OP Mishra at Panjim.
Asked what they would do if he did not turn up, Mishra said "law will take its own course."
"I will not divulge about the steps of the investigation," he said.
Meanwhile refused any interim relief, the Delhi High Court said it will hear his anticipatory bail plea on Friday.
Lawyers of Tejpal earlier said the Goa Police is showing undue interest in the case.
Tejpal on Monday moved the Delhi High Court for an anticipatory bail in the case.
He also sought change in the investigating agency and transfer of the case out of Goa.
Earlier, changing his first version of the event, Tejpal said the encounter was a 'light-hearted banter'.
"I'm shocked to learn that a false complaint was sought to be projected as an incident of alleged harassment. The encounter was only light-hearted banter which led to a moment of privacy between two individuals," Tejpal said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
"Our meeting lasted a few seconds and no intimate moment was shared between us," he said.
He accused the Goa Police of ignoring the CCTV footage of the incident.
"The nature of the said meeting can well be established by perusal of the CCTV footage from hotel. The Goa Police blatantly ignoring CCTV footage, I demand a copy," said Tejpal.
Tejpal, late Nov 20 evening rescued himself from his job for six months after the journalist complained to Tehelka's managing editor Shoma Chaudhury that he allegedly pulled her into an elevator in the Goa resort and sexually assaulted her during the Think festival organised by Tehelka in Goa.
