Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Wednesday said Bharatiya Janata Party and its ideological patron Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are promoting communal agenda by projecting Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate.

While inaugurating the three-day CPI-M state plenum at Palakkad in Kerala, Karat said: "Narendra Modi is projected as BJP's prime ministerial candidate. He is one political leader who has the support of the all the big corporate and business house."

"The BJP and RSS have decided to promote hardcore communal agenda by projecting Modi as prime ministerial candidate," he said.

Karat alleged BJP is spreading communal violence to ensure Modi wins the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
