J and K: Geelani released after 8 days

Srinagar , Nov 23 : Jammu and Kashmir authorities on Saturday released Tehreek-i-Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani after 8 days of detention in Srinagar.

Sources told IBNS that in the morning authorities lifted police deployment from his house and informed Geelani that he was free.

Talking to media, party spokesmany Ayaz Akbar said, "Geelani had to address a press conference today. Before the press conference, Geelnai's siege ended by lifting of police deployment outside his house."

After his siege ended, Geelani called off the press conference.

Earlier, Geelani was put under house arrest by the state administration after his 360 days long detention ended on Nov 8.

Later he was again put under house arrest after he called gun a solution for Kashmir.
