BJP felicitates riot accused MLAs

Agra, Nov 21 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday felicitated two party MLAs - Suresh Rana and Sangeet Som- who are accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots case but got bail, though the prime ministerial candidate of BJP Narendra Modi himself did not honour them as was the buzz earlier.

The MLAs, who are out on bail, were felicitated at the venue of Modi's rally at Agra in Uttar Pradesh by the state chief, and it was preceded by a fiery speech of a local politician though Modi was conspicuous by his absence when they were felicitated.

Modi aide Amit Shah was present though, said reports.

The BJP has always maintained that Rana and Som are innocent.

"Our leaders were framed in the Muzaffarnagar riots case. But the court found the charges to be baseless. We will certainly honour them in our rallies," said BJP leader Kalraj Mishra.
