One killed in Patna railway station blast

Patna, Oct 27 : One person was killed when a bomb exploded on a newly built platform of the Patna railway station Sunday, police said.

The bomb went off on platform 10 around 10.30 a.m., hours before the start of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally at the Gandhi Maidan, about two-three kilometres away, police said.

Two people were injured in the blast, and one of them succumbed to his injuries. The injured man was warded in the Patna Medical College and Hospital.

Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said police also recovered two live bombs from the area.

After the incident, police appealed to people, particularly those gathered for the Modi rally, not to touch suspicious objects.

Police did not say if there was a link between the explosion and the Modi meeting.

Congress spokesman Rashid Alvi called the bomb explosion "extremely unfortunate".
