Alice Munro wins Nobel Literature Prize

Stockholm, Oct 10 : The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet on Thursday decided to award the Nobel Prize for Literature to Canadian writer Alice Munro.

"The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2013 is awarded to the Canadian author Alice Munro," the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet said in a statement.

It described her as "master of the contemporary short story".

Munro became the 13th woman to win the prize in the history of the award.

Known for her short stories, Munro's works include The Moons of Jupiter, Runaway and The View from Castle Rock.

Chinese novelist Mo Yan got the award last year.
