UP cop asked to explain rape remark

Lucknow, Mar 23 : An Uttar Pradesh cop who said before media that "who would rape a 35-year-old 'purani' woman and a mother of a boy as old as 14-year-old", when she came to lodge a complaint, was asked to explain his remarks by the police administration.

Trust this UP cop to come up with a bizarre remark that a 35-year-old is too old an age to be raped.

The cop from Deoria in eastern UP, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police KC Goswami, was captured on camera saying with a deadpan face that who would rape a woman like her who has a son as old as 14-year-old.

The woman had gone to the police to file a rape complaint.

The cop when questioned by media said he would still check out if anything had happened though he "feels that no one would rape a woman as old as her."

Uttar Pradesh Inspector General of Police (Law And Order) Rajkumar Vishwakarma later tendered an apology and assured that action would be taken against the cop.

The woman had been trying to lodge a complaint for over two days after she faced the assault on Wednesday night.
