Vice President Hamid Ansari greets nation on Onam

New Delhi, Sept 15 : Vice President Hamid Ansari has greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Onam.


In his message, he has said that the mood of rejoicing is vividly captured in the rituals and festivities associated with the festival, transcending all barriers and uniting us in a common brotherhood.

"I extend my warm greetings to all the citizens of our country on the joyous occasion of Onam, which marks the beginning of the harvest season," he said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has also greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Onam.

In a message, he said Onam is a celebration of life and hope and a remembrance of the legendary and joyous past. The festival also heralds the harvest season and is a mark of the secular traditions of Kerala.

"May the festival bring happiness and prosperity to all," he added.
