Singh, in his message, said Onam is a celebration of life and hope and a remembrance of the legendary and joyous past. The festival also heralds the harvest season and is a mark of the secular traditions of Kerala.
May the festival bring happiness and prosperity to all, the Prime Minister added.
Mukherjee in his message, said, "On the festive occasion of Onam, I convey my heartiest greetings and best wishes to fellow countrymen, especially to my brothers and sisters from Kerala."
"Coinciding with the harvest season, Onam marks a joyful completion of human efforts, with a prayerful optimism for the future. People of all religion, caste and community celebrate the festival with equal joy, underlining the secular fabric of our society.
"This unique festival brings out the rich cultural heritage of Kerala in it's best form and spirit. On this day, may the joy of Kerala extend to the whole of India bringing peace and harmony to all," he said.
Extending his greetings, Ansari said that the mood of rejoicing is vividly captured in the rituals and festivities associated with Onam, transcending all barriers and uniting us in a common brotherhood.
