Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is in jail in connection with a minor's sexual assault case, has reportedly asked authorities to allow a female doctor to monitor his health inside the Jodhpur Central Jail premises everyday.

"Asaram Bapu has applied for a female ayurvedic doctor to check his health for two hours everyday. We have forwarded his application to the jail management," Jodhpur Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ajay Pal Lamba told reporters.

Asaram's son Narayan Prem Sai said his father does not take allopathic medicines and believes in only ayurveda, hence the application.

Earlier, Asaram made a demand for 'gangajal' in his prison cell.

The godman said he won't drink any water without adding 'gangajal' (Ganga water) to it.

Asaram was sent to jail on Monday after the court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody.

Earlier, Asaram passed potency test, which established that he is medically fit and sexually potent.

The 15-year-old girl, who was staying at Asaram's hostel in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kamla market police station in Delhi alleging she was sexually assaulted by the godman.
