Asaram Bapu's son accused of cheating
After self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who is in jail in connection with a minor's sexual assault case, now it is his son Narayan Sai who has been accused of cheating a female devotee into marrying an already married man.
37-year-old Reena Wadhwani has reportedly filed a case in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) against Narayan Sai and others.
"My client has filed a case under Sections 493 and 494 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) against Nrayan Sai, her husband and four others," Reena's lawyer N A Sheikh told reporters.
The court will hear her case on Sept 20.
Reena, a devotee of Asaram and Narayan Sai, was reportedly cheated into marrying a disciple of the latter, saying he was a divorcee, on Dec 10, 2004.
The woman said days after her marriage, her in-laws started torturing her for Rs 4 lakh dowry and even forced her to abort her child with the help of Narayn Sai in 2005.
She said she kept silent under the influence of Narayan Sai, but moved to Indore city in Madhya Pradesh to stay with her parents.
Asaram was sent to jail on Monday after the court remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody.
A 15-year-old girl, who was staying at Asaram's hostel in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Kamla market police station in Delhi alleging she was sexually assaulted by the godman.
