Lehmann warns 'misfiring' Oz batsmen of 'heads being on chopping block'

Johannesburg, Aug 14 : Australian coach Darren Lehmann has warned his batsmen that they may be facing the axe after a stunning collapse saw England to a third straight Ashes series win.

According to Sport24, former Australia batsman Lehmann slammed the performance of his middle-order before indicating that only captain Michael Clarke and opener Chris Rogers, who made his maiden Test hundred in the first innings, were safe from the axe.

Lehmann said that to play for Australia, one needed to perform at a level that was acceptable for everyone in the team and also for the Australian public and media and at the moment, the players were not doing that.

The coach said that some of the shot selections of the batsmen were poor and he thought the chase would be managed comfortably after Australia was 150 for one.
