YSRCP to launch padayathra on funds for Yeleru modernisation

Kakinada, Mar 21 : YSR Congress party (YSRCP) leader Jyothula Nehru will embark on a padayathra along with a large number of supporters to press for sanctioning of adequate funds for modernisation of Yeleru reservoir project by holding a public meeting at Yelesweram tomorrow.

Party's senior state leaders Y Mysoora Reddy and Ambati Rambabu will flag off the Padayathra after addressing a public meeting along with other leaders near the reservoir.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, Mr Nehru said the party was forced to take up Padayathra to focus the attention of the government on the urgency in the execution of long pending project and to press for adequate funds for completion of the same.

The Padayathra was originally planned for March 12 coinciding with the Assembly sessions, but it was deferred to give time for the state government to allocate funds in the budget.

Since the government failed to realise the urgency for modernisation of the project and skipped even token allotment of funds in the budget, the party has decided to go ahead with the agitation.
