Kollam-Kottappuram waterway to be completed soon

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 21 : The Kerala government is expediting steps to complete the work of Kollam-Kottappuram waterway by October last.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy instructed the concerned officials in this regard during a meeting convened in his chamber in the Assembly today.

The problems related to acquisition of land in Kollam and Alappuzha districts would be resolved immediately, he said. He has instructed Kollam District Collector to provide shelter in flats constructed under tsunami project to those families who are evicted from Chavara, till they are given another land.

The meeting also discussed problems related to places of worship in these areas.

He has also instructed to call a meeting of MLAs in the area to resolve the problem of acquisition of land in Alappuzha district as this is hindering the works.

Ministers PJ Joseph, Adoor Prakash, K Babu and other officials were also present.
