Prahlad Joshi named BJP Karnataka State President
Bangalore, Mar 21 : BJP MP Prahlad Joshi was today named as the president of the Karnataka state unit by party chief Rajnath Singh.
He succeeds deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa who had demitted office immediately after the party's loss in the urban local body elections.
Reacting to the appointment, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said Mr Joshi was the obvious choice. It could have
been Mr Ananth Kumar. However, he did not want to head a sinking
ship and hence the choice fell on Mr Joshi.
Mr Yeddyurappa wished Mr Joshi well in the new post. It would also augur well for chief minister Jagadish Shettar as both can interact frequently, he added.
Mr Yeddyurappa said Mr Eshwarappa was thinking that he would
continue to head the unit, but it did not happen.
