HCL chairman to receive Sir Jehangir Ghandy medal
Jamshedpur, Mar 21 : The prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace would be given to HCL chairman Padma Bhusan Shiv Nadar on March 23 here, official sources said today.
The medal, instituted by XLRI, one of the top business schools in the country with headquarters here, in 1966 in the honour of the Late Sir Ghandy, former chairman of the institute, is awarded to eminent personalities for exceptional contribution in promotion of Industrial and social peace.
So far, over 40 distinguished personalities including N R Narayana Murthy, chairman emeritus and chief mentor of Infosys Technologies Ltd. (2012), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar (2011) and Industrialists JRD Tata, Ratan Tata, former Loksabha speaker P A Sangma, former Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu have received this medal.
Nadar, who is also founder of Shiv Nadar Foundation, a philanthropic NGO, would be handed over the award by present XLRI Chairman and MD, Tata Steel, H M Nerurkar at the 57th annual convocation of the B-school to be held on March 23 at Tata auditorium during which SBI chairman Prateep Choudhary would also be present.
