Speaker allows Left motion to discuss law and order
Kolkata, Mar 21 : Refuting the Opposition's charge of 'favouritism,' West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee today allowed an adjournment motion sponsored by the Left Front on various issues, including law and order, for discussion in the House tomorrow.
Opposition Leader in the Assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra moved the adjournment motion.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, visiting Jangalmahal, will be present during the discussions and gave her reply.
Informatively, several Left-sponsored adjournment motions on different issues, including law and order, were disallowed for discussion by the Speaker recently.
Ruling Trinamool Congress leaders, including former party MLA Arabul Islam and councillor Md Iqbal alias Munna were arrested in connection with the Bhangar violence and the murder of a police officer in Garden Reach recently.
A Trinamool leader was killed and ten people were wounded during a clash between two groups at Mathpukur in Dhapa in the southern fringe of the city yesterday in which Trinamool Congress councillor Sambhu Nath Kow was the main accused.
The Chief Minister had ordered the police to arrest Kow who remained untraced so far.
