Breach of privilege motion tabled against 'IBN Lokmat' channel

Mumbai, Mar 21 : A breach of privilege motion was accepted by Dilip Walse-Patil, the Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly, against the Marathi news channel 'IBN Lokmat' for allegedly defaming the Speaker and State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in the name of freedom of press.

The notice was given by Shashikant Shinde of NCP.

While tabling the notice, Mr Shinde said, 'IBN Lokmat's editor Nikhil Wagle had allegedly insulted the house.'

Leader of the Opposition Eknath Khadse and Subhash Desai (Shiv Sena) also supported him.
