Indian Idol Junior auditions held in Kolkata

Kolkata, Mar 26 : Popular television show Indian Idol for the first time opened doors for young singers of age 5 to 16 with Indian Idol Junior scheduled to be aired sometime during June or July in Sony Entertainment.


Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal and Music Director duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani will be at the jury panel to judge the young talent.

The Kolkata audition for the show was held on Mar 23 and Mar 24.

Indian Idol Junior produced by the format owners Fremantie Media will be jointly hosted by Mandira Bedi and Karan Wahi.

According to Vishal Dadlani, "The talent in Kolkata has been spectacular. This is the first time we are auditioning kids here. People have come from Guwahati, Jamshedpur, the north East sector."

"The kids are so much talented, they have learnt very well, well mannered and humble and of course very cute. Parameters for judging them would be based on the techniques and musicalities."

Speaking on the quality he said, "The voice, voice quality, pitching, techniques, improvisation and lastly the ability to invoke and convey emotion is the most important thing to bring the perfection into the song. We are waiting for the original composition that the participant will take into their singing."

"Creativity comes from Kolkata so we have chosen this city first time for the audition. The kids are spectacular singer. It will be tough for us to judge these kids," Dadlani added.
