Student dies after teacher bangs head on wall

Kolkata, May 17 : An 8-year-old student died at Kolkata's SSKM Hospital on Friday after his teacher allegedly banged his head against a wall at a West Bengal school, the police said.

The police said they have arrested the teacher who was identified as Champa Mondal.

Mondal on May 15 allegedly smashed Bapi Joardar's head on the wall at Nirdheshkhali Shishu Shiksha Kendra at Basanti town in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district for throwing bags in the classroom.

The victim was earlier admitted to a local hospital.

He was later brought to state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. He died at around 5 am at the hospital, reports said.
