Allied Blenders acquires distilleries in Bengal

Kolkata, May 9 : Liquor baron Kishore Chhabria's Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) has acquired 100 percent stake in Wales Distilleries in West Bengal.

Wales Distilleries Pvt Ltd, located at Kalyani in Nadia district, is a modern distillery with a state of the art blending and bottling plant.

The bottling plant has a capacity of 1 lakh cases per month and ABD has plans to upscale it to 1.5 lacs cases a month shortly, a company release said Thursday.

Speaking on the development, ABD executive vice chairman and CEO Deepak Roy said: "This association will further strengthen our presence in east India and is a first in a series of moves that will fuel our expansion plans."
