The L'Oreal India for Young Women in Science Scholarships Programme with the support of the Indian National Commission for Co-operation with UNESCO, has been initiated since 2003.
L'Oreal India will award scholarships worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs each to 30 young women, granted over a period of four years for graduate studies in a scientific field from a recognized college or university in India.
"The number of women with careers in science in India is still very low. L'Oreal aims to promote and encourage women to choose a career in science. This initiative is our small effort to introduce change by acknowledging and enabling worthy women candidates to pursue science," said Chief Operating Officer, L'Oreal India, Dinesh Dayal.
"Entering the 11th year and still going strong, Young Women in Science Programme is a great initiative to identify and acknowledge deserving candidates. It gives us immense pleasure to be a part of the next generation leaders in science," said Dayal.
