The accused driver Shohan Lal, in his 30s, was arrested Sunday night for his brutal act, a police officer said.

The teenaged victim, Sooraj, was beaten up by the accused Sunday in Govindpuri area of south Delhi after the driver caught him red-handed while he was stealing a coconut from his auto-rickshaw.

After the incident, Sooraj went his house in Govindpuri but his condition deteriorated in a few hours.

He was taken to a hospital by his parents but he died of his injuries, police said.
