PM greets nation on Lohri, Makara Sankranti, Pongal

New Delhi, Jan 12 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Lohri, Makara Sankranti and Pongal.

In his message, the Prime Minister said, "Sankranti indicates the beginning of a traditionally auspicious period of the year. Lohri and Pongal are harvest festivals, and an occasion to celebrate the contribution of our farmers and our traditional ethos, culture and economy. All these festivals mark a new beginning."

"May these festivals bring prosperity and joy to all", Singh said.
