The meeting lasted for nearly 30 minutes and was followed by the Congress's core group meet.
According to party sources, anti-graft bills were on top of the agenda.
Some of the important anti-corruption bills pending with parliament include the Whistleblowers' Protection Bill, Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, a bill on citizens' charter and amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal and Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V. Narayanasamy also attended the meeting.
The meeting comes a day after Attorney General G.E. Vahanvati admitted in the Supreme Court that there were some flaws in the allocation of coal blocks.
