Jammu and Kashmir: Militants-forces exchange bullets

By Saleem Iqbal Qadri, Srinagar, Jan 10 : An encounter has started between militants and security forces on Friday at Sopore town, 70 km from Srinagar, in Jammu and Kashmir.

State police sources said acting on a tip off, the police, along with Indian Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a search operation at Marbal village of Sopore.

Sources also said the Army busted the militants' hideout in the area.

One militant has reportedly been killed so far.

The encounter is still on in the area.

Pertinently, on Jan 7, one policeman was killed in a militant attack at Chankhan in Sopore.
