Italian marines: Sibal, Khurshid meet Shinde

New Delhi, Jan 9 : Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal and External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Thursday met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on the case against two Italian marines who were arrested in connection with the 2012 killing of Kerala fishermen.

Pertinently, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sought the sanction of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to file a chargesheet against the two marines - Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone.

On Feb 15, 2012, the security officials of Italian cargo vessel Enrica Lexie allegedly shot dead two Indian fishermen mistaking them as pirates in the high seas off Ambalapuzha in Kerala. They were subsequently arrested.
