Fresh snowfall in Kashmir

By Saleem Iqbal Qadri, Srinagar, Jan 9 : The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for traffic after fresh snowfall in Banihal and Patnitop areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The fresh snowfall started Wednesday evening across Kashmir.

The snowfall continued till late Wednesday.

Traffic police officials said the National Highway has been closed for traffic

"We will start snow clearance later in a day," the officials said on Thursday.

They advised people not to take the risk of travelling on the National Highway.

Meanwhile, rail and air services were hit due to the heavy snowfall.

Rail officials said that rail service was stopped in Jammu and Baramulla in North Kashmir. The services were also suspended on Thursday morning due to snowfall.

However, no official was available to answer about the present condition of the valley.
