Encounter: Omar mourns ASI killing

By Saleem Iqbal Qadri, Srinagar, Jan 7 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday condemned the killing of Assistant Sub Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kafeel Ahmed during a gun battle with militants at Chankhan in North Kashmir's Sopore town.

ASI Kafeel Ahmad was killed while three other police men were injured in three hour long gun battle with militants on Tuesday.

Reports also said militants have fled from the spot

Abdullah highlighted the sacrifice of duty bound Ahmed and said that Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel exhibited highest degree of bravery which has been the tradition of the police force.

The Chief Minister has expressed grief over the killing of the police personnel and conveyed his solidarity to the bereaved family and the
police force.

Meanwhile Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, who also hold the Home portfolio, has condoled the death of Ahmed.
