Petrol price goes up by 75 paise; diesel by 50 paise

New Delhi, Jan. 3 : Petrol prices have been hiked by 75 paise per litre and diesel by 50 paise on Friday by Oil marketing companies.

The current price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 71.50 per litre, which will increase to Rs 72.25 per litre, after the hike.

The price of diesel will increase from Rs 53.80 a litre to Rs 54.30.

The new rates are excluding local sales tax or VAT and will come into effect by midnight.

Following the government's decision to raise the commission paid to petrol pump dealers, and firming global oil rates, petrol price was last hiked on December 20 by 41 paise a litre.

Diesel rates were increased simultaneously by 10 paise per litre due to a hike in dealer's commission.
