Margao blast: All accused acquitted

Panaji, Dec 31 : A National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Tuesday acquitted all accused in the 2009 Margao blast case.


The NIA had named 11 people as accused in the case, including Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik, who were killed in the blast behind Grace Church on Oct 16, 2009.

The NIA had probed into the 2009 blast which was allegedly triggered by disciples of Hindu outfit Sanatan Sanstha killing two of its own men - Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik, as the bomb they were ferrying to the target sites exploded prematurely.

The agency had on May 18, 2010 chargesheeted six people under serious charges of conspiracy, waging war, under the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
