Two Uzbeki women nabbed for running sex racket

New Delhi, Dec 27 : Two Uzbeki women were arrested for running a sex racket in a posh area of Delhi and forcing two of their relatives into the trade, police said Friday.

Shehnaj, 27, and Nazakat, 25, were arrested from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport Thursday.

"The accused came to India on a business visa and started running a dance group here from a house in D-block of Kailash Colony in Greater Kailash (GK) I," said a police officer.

Around six months ago, they called the victims to join their dance group on the pretext of providing them a good salary and later forced them into the flesh trade.

"As the victims had no visa, the accused called them to India via Nepal," said the officer.

"The victims were confined to the GK flat since they arrived in Delhi. Ten days ago, the women were shifted to another flat in the Kalkaji area from where they managed to flee," said the officer.

The incident came to light when the victims approached the Uzbekistan embassy and also registered a complaint at the GK police station Dec 11.

"The victims were starved when they refused to join the sex trade. Later, they broke down and started visiting homes of clients," said the officer.

The officer said despite narrating their ordeal to customers several times, no one helped the victims. Instead, the customers informed the accused who in turn thrashed the duo.
