Zia will be put on trial: Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, Dec 26 : Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday slammed BNP chief Khaleda Zia and accused her of unleashing terrorism and militancy in the country and killing people in the name of a movement.

Hasina, who is the president of the ruling Awami League, said Zia would be held one day for the offences she has committed.

"The opposition leader would be charged with giving orders for killing and burning people to death in the name of movement. Her trial would be held on Bangladesh soil to this end and we will hold this trial," Hasina said while addressing a rally at Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district.

Ahead of the 10th parliamentary elections next month, army has been deployed to maintain law and order in the country.
