Notice to absent municipal officials

New Delhi, Dec 25 : The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has issued notice to 15 senior-level officers for remaining absent from work, a senior official said Wednesday.

"I have issued memos to 15 officers of different departments, as they were not in office when I had visited between 9.30 and 10.15 a.m," South Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Gupta told IANS.

Gupta went for a surprise inspection Tuesday and found that many senior-level officers were not present in office.

"This is part of the duty of being a commissioner and we should continue to do such surprise inspections so that the corporation works smoothly," Gupta said.

The officers have been given three days time to explain their absence from office.

Depending on the nature of violation, action will be taken against them, Gupta said.
