Ex-Home Secy appointed as Manipur governor

New Delhi, Dec 23 : President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday appointed former home secretary Vinod Kumar Duggal as the Governor of Manipur.

"The President of India has been pleased to appoint Shri Vinod Kumar Duggal, to be the Governor of Manipur with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a statement.

Duggal had served as the Union Home Secretary from March 2005 till Apr 1, 2007.
