The page (www.facebook.com/isromom) was widely acclaimed as it garnered approximately 3 lakh followings in its two months of existence., said the ISRO.
It isevident that social media platforms offer an unprecedented opportunity ofconnecting to each and every individual in the country. It is deemedprudent to extend the scope of this experimental Social Media Campaign toentire space programme and enhance the public outreach of ISRO.
In view of the above, social media pages on Facebook and Twitter have been initiated for ISRO with the following objectives -
a. Create awareness on the objectives, mission milestones and
accomplishments of ISRO's key programmes and initiatives.
b. Provide mission updates in near real time.
c. Maximise ISRO's outreach through these social media platforms.
While it is obvious that, ISROMOM- the previously created Facebook page on the Mars Orbiter Mission would be continued as usual, the new social media pages (On Facebook and Twitter) can be reached from ISRO web portal or directly through www.facebook.com/isroofficial and www.twitter.com/isroofficial.
