Harrison Ford 'ready to reprise Han Solo role in Star Wars Episode 7'
Harrison Ford is "open" to return as Han Solo in the new 'Star Wars' movie, almost three decades after playing the part in 1983's 'Return of the Jedi,' according to reports.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a source "close to Ford" suggested that the 70-year-old actor is excited about returning for the latest 'Star War' films, the first of which is due to arrive in cinemas in 2015 following Disney's 4.05 billion dollars purchase of creator George Lucas's LucasFilm production company, the Guardian reported.
A charismatic space smuggler who appeared in the first trilogy between 1977 and 1983, Solo is one of the three 'Star Wars' lead roles alongside Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher's Princess Leia.
"Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it and #65533; all three of them are," the source said.
Apparently, Hamill has already tentatively indicated his interest in the project, after revealing that he and Fisher were told by Lucas in August that 'Star Wars' would be returning.
The source said that Ford will wait to see who Disney recruits to write and direct the films before entering into any negotiation.
Ford's reported interest in returning to Star Wars belies his apparent apathy to the trilogy for the best part of three decades.
