2 suspected robbers nabbed with looted booty

The Banskantha district police today nabbed two people from Ahmedabad for allegedly looting a lecturer of Rs 9 lakh from Jampura locality here last week.

The police have also seized the looted booty.

Mahesh Makwana, lecturer at a local Commerce college, had on November one withdrawn Rs nine lakh from Juna Gunj Bazar branch of the SBI. While on way to his house on bike with his colleauge Prof Bipin Dhandhukiya, the accused, who were also on motorcycles, allegedly chased the lecturer and snatched the bag containing the cash from Prof Dhandhukiya who was riding pillion police said.

Following the robbery, Mr Makwana immediately informed the police who swung into action.

According to police, they alerted all the police stations in the district about a gang of motorcycle-borne accused.

Based on close circuit television (CCTV) footage and mobile location, they were identified and later arrested with the help of Sardarnagar police in Ahmedabad.

Police refused to disclose the identity of the accused.

Further investigations are on, police added.
