Ponzi scamster Abhay Gandhi nabbed
Ponzi scamster Abhay Gandhi, who is accused of masterminding a Rs 300 crore scam, was arrested by the city crime branch from international airport here today.
Crime Branch DCP Himanshu Shukla told mediapersons that the police had received a tip-off that Gandhi was to land at international airport here. So a watch was set up. Gandhi landed at the airport well after the midnight from a flight coming from Bangkok. As soon as he entered the airport, he was arrested this morning by the crime branch sleuths who were on his lookout. The crime branch had issued a Red Corner notice for him.
The police is now interrogating Gandhi to learn about his modus operandi of cheating people, where he had gone after he disappeared from Ahmedabad and what use he made of the money he made through his ponzi schemes.
Gandhi disappeared from the city in April last year after duping people to the tune of Rs 300 crore. He had floated a Ponzi scheme offering to pay thrice against the investment.
The 'ek ka teen' scheme attracted many people. Earlier, the police arrested around five persons connected with Gandhi since his disappearance last year.
