A gigantic statue of Lord Buddha measuring about 70 ft height will be installed atop Deuli hill, an important Buddhist site in Jajpur district in Odisha.
The decision to have such a large statue of Lord Buddha at Deuli hill was taken at a high level meeting presided over by state Tourism Minister Maheswar Mohanty here today.
Official sources said the Deuli hill will be developed into a tourist centre and a watch tower will be constructed.
The state government had already released Rs 2.25 crore to OTDC to start the work without delay.
State Panchayat Raj Minister Kalpataru Das emphasised on early completion of project and expected that lot of tourist will visit the newly developed tourist place.
Tourism Secretary Ashok Kumar Tripathy meanwhile, had instructed Architect, OTDC for early action in providing connection of electricity, water facilities at Deuli hills.
