More than 34.38 lakh tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in various mandis of Haryana during current Kharif season as compared to over 28.84 lakh tonnes arrived during the corresponding period last year.
Stating this here today, a Food and Supplies Department spokesman said that in a single day, yesterday, over 1.36 lakh tonnes of paddy had arrived, which included 1.06 lakh tonnes of leviable paddy and 29,191 tonnes of non-leviable paddy.
He said that out of the total arrival of paddy, maximum quantity of paddy had arrived in Kurukshetra district (over 7.99 lakh tonnes), followed by Karnal district (over 7.43 lakh tonnes), Kaithal district (over 5.46 lakh tonnes), Fatehabad district (over 4.27 lakh tonnes), Ambala district (over 3.46 lakh tonnes), Yamunanagar district (over 2.28 lakh tonnes), Jind district (98,598 tonnes), Panipat district (74,750 tonnes), Sirsa district (61,298 tonnes), Panchkula district (60,163 tonnes), and Sonepat district (17,325 tonnes).
He said that six government agencies had so far procured over 31.35 lakh tonnes of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of over 3.02 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured by the millers.
He said that out of the total paddy procured by the agencies, over 12.64 lakh tonnes had been procured by Food and Supplies Department whereas HAFED had purchased more than 9.68 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation over 4.82 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.30 lakh tonnes and CONFED procured 1.87 lakh tonnes of paddy.
The Food Corporation of India had also procured 1296 tonnes of paddy, he added.
