The Punjab government has stepped up its drive against illegal mining in the state and 24 more FIRs were registered in this connection during the past three days.
Stating this here today, Industries and Commerce Minister Anil Joshi said the Industry department was continuing with the stringent action against illegal miners and the state government was committed to check this menace with iron hand.
With these 24 FIRs, he said, the total number of FIRs registered during the past one week had gone to 53 in the state.
Besides, Mr Joshi said more than 30 vehicles including trucks, trolleys, tippers and JCBs had also been impounded in the state.
The Minister said strict action would continue unabated against illegal miners and requested the public to lodge their complaints in this regard with the General Manager-cum-Mining Officer of the concerned district.
