Rajasthan gets all time high representation in Union Govt
With induction of two Members of Parliament from Rajasthan in Dr Manmohan Singh-led Union Council of Ministers, the representation from the desert state has gone up to the all time high mark of seven.
In the expansion today, Chandresh Kumari, sitting MP from Jodhpur, has been inducted into cabinet with Culture portfolio while new face from Jaipur Rural constituency Lal Chand Kataria is made Minister of State in the Defence Ministry.
Prior to this, the state was represented in the Union Government by Transport and Highways Minister C P Joshi (Bhilwara), Industries and Commerce Minister Anand Sharma (Rajya Sabha), Ministers of State Sachin Pilot (Ajmer), Namo Narain Meena (Tonk-Sawai Madhopur), Bhanwar Jitendra Singh (Alwar) and Mahadev Singh Khandela (Sikar).
Of them, Mr Khandela has been dropped in today's reshuffle-cum-expansion.
In today's expansion besides induction of two ministers, shifting of Pilot into Company Affairs Ministry with Independent Charge and that of Mr Jitendra Singh into Defence and Sports-Youth Affairs Ministries, symbolised enhanced political strength of the state.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has hailed induction of two Ministers from the state in the expansion today and expressed his gratitude for Dr Singh, UPA Chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi for according all time high representation to the state in the Council of Ministers.
Mr Gehlot also greeted both the new Ministers.
