The third North-East Agri Expo 2012, a mega agricultural event, organised by the Nagaland government and supported by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and North Eastern Council (NEC), will be held from November 15 to 17.

Themed 'progressive agriculture', it will be held at the Agri Expo Site in Dimapur.

According to a statement issued by NER Agri Expo office with over 39 organisations, both national and international experts are expected to attend.

So far, three countries and ten organisations from outside NE and six NE states have confirmed their participation. It said that all the exhibition stalls and booths have been booked and there is still a rush for bookings from outside the state.

An impressive line-up of exhibitors, according to the office, include HSMM Group from Laos, NETAFM from Israel, NEDFi, NERAMAC, TRIFED and SFAC.

The Agri Expo has become an opportunity to network with scores of knowledgeable speakers, scientists, practitioners, agriculture experts and reputed organizations, the statement said.

From the over content-rich breakout sessions that focuses on emerging agricultural technologies, indigenous species, furniture and crafts, medicinal and aromatic plants, research findings and overall management techniques, the Expo guarantees an incredibly rewarding event for farmers, visitors and participants alike.

The objective of the Expo is to create a platform for public and private sectors, buyers and sellers, exhibitors and investors and supporting institutes to forge linkage in line with the theme 'progressive agriculture' by showcasing agriculture and allied products thereby promoting trade and investment opportunities for the NE states.

One of the most awaited events of the expo is the national seminar on 'Progressive Agriculture'. The focus of this seminar will be on the climate resilient agriculture, success stories on agriculture technologies, ITKs (Indigenous Technological Knowledge system) and farmers' variety, including value chain and market linkages.

A parallel session on 'Farmers-Scientists Interaction' will also be held focusing on issues such as resilient agriculture in the context of climate change, horticulture for nutritional and income security, and animal husbandry for economic uplift of farmers.

Besides the above, the 3rd NER Agri Expo has a number of special features, including a day-long video show on latest technologies in agriculture, lead papers to be presented by nationally or internationally acclaimed experts, presentation by innovative farmers and students of NER and poster presentation on success stories in agricultural technologies and ITKs.
