Committee to monitor slaughter houses in Punjab

The Punjab government has constituted a committee to monitor the proper working and cleanliness of slaughter houses in the state.
Stating this here today, a Local Bodies Department spokesman said that Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary and Ashok Kumar Gupta, Director of the department would be the Chairman and Member Secretary of the committee, respectively.
The committee will meet at least once in three months. It will monitor the slaughter houses and ensure maintenance of health and hygiene.
It would also direct the slaughter houses to ensure cleanliness in and around the premises of slaughter houses as per the parameters of World Health Organization (WHO), to prevent outbreak of any disease.
