Apple likely to unveil 'iPad Mini' at October 23 event
Apple is reportedly planning to host an event on October 23, where the tech giant is expected to unveil its new mini iPad.
Speculation has swirled for months that Apple was planning to launch its smaller iPad on October 17.
But tech site AllThingsD, cited people 'familiar with Apple's plans' as saying that the firm would hold an iPad mini launch event on October 23rd.
According to the Telegraph, the report said the event was likely to be held at Apple's Cupertino headquarters.
A launch on the 23rd would upset rival Microsoft, which will launch its new Windows 8 operating system on October 25
Apple is apparently releasing its smaller iPad to compete with Google's Android-powered tablet, Nexus 7, and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD.
Both of those tablets have 7-inch screens and it is rumoured that the smaller iPad would have a 7.85-inch screen.
