St. James wins city finals of Limca Quiz
St. James School on Tuesday was declared the Kolkata winner of Limca Book of Records Quiz 2012 at South City International School here.
Limca Book of Records Quiz, a multi-city initiative by Derek O Brien and associates, has been educating and entertaining the students all over the country since last four years.
This year almost 4000 schools across India participated in this inter-school quiz competition, where the participants were from 8th to 12th standard, informed officials.
On Tuesday 6 renowned schools from Kolkata, La Martiniere for Boys, St. James, Julien Day school, Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, St. Thomas, and St. Johns challenged each other showcasing knowledge in the contest 2012 for the city finals.
St. James bagged the winner trophy and gold medals defeating the others with their marvelous performances.
La Martniere for Boys and DPS Ruby Park became the first and the second runners up successively with silver and bronze medals.
At the end of the programme, winner's trophy with medals and certificates were handed over to the St. James School by the last year's record creator in Limca Book of Records Md. Avid Khan who broke 100 watermelons with his head.
The Vice President of Derek O Brien Associates Andrew Scolt congratulated the winners and announced on the stage that the Kolkata winners would be joining the other 79 cities in the bigger competition.
He said that the winners of the 4 zones, North, South, East, West would be competing with each other at the semi finals and National Finals which would be held in December this year.
