Rs.14 lakh, vehicles looted in Noida
Over Rs.14 lakh in cash and jewellery along with two vehicles were looted in two incidents here Monday, police said. One person was injured while resisting the robbers.
A cash collection van was looted of Rs.4.10 lakh by four motorcycle-borne assailants near Hoshiarpur locality here, who also critically injured the security guard when he resisted them.
The goons, on two bikes, held the vehicle's occupants at gunpoint and then fled with Rs.4.10 lakh, the car and a licensed weapon. On resistance, the assailants also left the security guard sitting in the cab injured. He sustained bullet injuries on his forehead.
"Three employees of the company in Tata Indica car had come to collect cash from a liquor shop in Hoshiarpur. The four miscreants opened fire on the car. They also fled with the cash, gun and the car. Later, the car was recovered near Tigari intersection in Greater Noida West," a senior police official said.
In another incident, Meerut resident and employee of a sugar mill of Muradnagar, Suresh Sahwney was going with his wife Lata Sawhney to the house of his son-in-law in sector 20. Goons in a car hit the victim's Hyndai Santro car from backside at sector 31-25 intersection and chased them.
When Suresh Sahwney did not stop his car, they overtook his car near Noida stadium. They held him at gunpoint and then fled with jewellery and cash amounting to Rs.10 lakh and the victim's car, said a police official.
