People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday condemned the pandemonium that erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly as three youth suddenly jumped in the well of the House and raised slogans demanding implementation of employment policy.

Mufti said that the situation in the state and country was of anxiety especially amongst the youth.

"I condemn this lawlessness, but at the same time we also need to see that in the whole country there is an atmosphere of desperation and frustration. The people are fed up with our institutions. They have lost faith, corruption is so high. On the other hand, more so in our state where unemployment is a lot, avenues are less. Whatever government employment is available is tarred by allegations, back-door entries. The youth think that justice is not being meted to them," said Mufti.

"So, I would say that this is a phenomenon throughout the country that people have lost faith in our institutions, in democratic institutions, be it Parliament or the assembly, which is very sad and which is very shocking," she added.

Meanwhile, expelled BJP member Jagdish Sapolia on whose passes the three youth entered the house said that he had no idea that they had planned a protest on the floor of the house.

"Those youth were not my people. One of the youth, Manish Khajuria was in BJP with me and the rest of the two were lawyers. They came to me in the legislator hostel to ask for passes to come and see the assembly's proceedings. I agreed because there is nothing wrong in it," said Sapolia.

"They also said that we don't have a car please take us to the assembly. So, it's a breach of faith. Whatever they wanted to say they should have told me, I would have raised their unemployment concerns in the assembly. Their way of protest is totally wrong; it's contempt of the house," he added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday witnessed unruly scenes as three youth suddenly jumped into the members' area of the House, demanding implementation of employment policy.

The three youth - Manish Khajuria, Sunny Malhotra and Ambedkar Gupta - were overpowered by Assembly marshals and placed under arrest on the orders of Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone.

The youth, who had got passes on the request of Sapolia to witness the proceedings from the public gallery, unfurled the flag of a newly-floated party J-K Democratic Front.

They also raised slogans demanding implementation of employment policy in the state.

The Speaker immediately ordered investigation into how the youth got into the assembly.

Proceedings of the House were disrupted for a short while due to the incident.
